Missing You

by Mary Angelica Bonifacio |

When you told me how you feel
Whenever you miss me,
I couldn’t find the right words to say
Because you already said it all –

That sensation of falling a long way down,
Of feeling like your insides are emptying out,
And your stomach is caving in,
Forming a vacuum,
Sucking you in.

A lot of times, I feel it –
A sharp tug,
A magnetic pull,
A tingle on that specific spot
Just between my heart and stomach,
Then I realize I’m being drawn to you,
And my thoughts are running in your direction,
Simply because I miss you.

It’s both scary and amazing at the same time –
Missing you,
Longing for you,
Giving you that much power over me,
That I find myself
Slowly,
Heavily,
Agonizingly
Turning into a black hole,
Just because of your absence.
